Distribution

Pseudomicrothorax dubius is found in freshwater habitats such as lakes, reservoirs, streams and rivers - especially those rich in algae.

There are also occasional reports of its presence in terrestrial habitats such as mosses and soils (Thompson and Corliss, 1958; Foissner et al., 2002).

P. dubius is probably cosmopolitan, having been reported from:

  • Africa
  • Asia
  • Europe
  • North America
  • P. dubius cells and a cyst
